The Institutions Emergency Response Plan is predicated on a realistic approach to the problems likely to be encountered on a college/university campus during a major emergency or disaster. The following are general guidelines for enacting the institutions Emergency Response Plan:

• A disaster or major emergency may be declared if information indicates that such a condition is developing or probable. A major emergency or disaster may occur at any time of the day or night, weekend or holiday, with little or no warning. The succession of events in an emergency is not predictable. Hence, published support and operational plans serve only as guidelines and checklists, and may require field modification in order to meet the requirements of the emergency. Decisions to modify established policies and procedures must be approved by the Vice President for Finance and Administration or his/her designee.

• Disasters may also impact off-campus residents within the same vicinity of the institution and/or its properties. Consequently, local, state and federal emergency services may not be available immediately. The Universitys policy is to allow students housed off campus to return to campus during major emergencies or disasters. 完美体育官网s Emergency Response Team designees are expected to communicate and coordinate emergency response plans with a variety of governmental and non-governmental organizations such as local crisis centers, county emergency management teams, to accomplish order and restoration.
